2025 Officer of the Year

Officer Lane is a twenty-five-year veteran of Haverford Township Police. He is a member of the SWAT team where he serves as team leader. He has attended numerous SWAT trainings which include SWAT Command Decision-Making and Leadership and Philadelphia Air Tac. Officer Lane is an excellent and dedicated instructor. He holds many certifications which include Active Threat Training Instructor, High Threat Close Quarter Battle Instructor, NRA School Shield Security Assessor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, ASP Instructor, Stop Sticks Instructor, and Defensive Tactics and Handcuffing Instructor. Officer Lane has received numerous trainings regarding active shooters and school shootings which include Shot Tec Firearms Simulation, the School Safety Conference, the Safe School Summit and the School Security Conference.

Officer Lane has a huge part in the on-boarding of our new hires and for our new officers is often one of the first people that they get to know and is important in “setting the tone” for what our Department expectations are going to be.

Officer Lane is also a valued member of the crash team, and you can always count on him to respond when called.

Officer Lane has put a great deal of thought and time helping and working with our school district administrators to assist them with training and planning for an Active Threat. With regards to being a SWAT Team Leader, he consistently analyzes police actions to gain knowledge to pass along to fellow officers, as well as neighboring teams.

Additionally, Officer Lane is a dedicated and knowledgeable firearms instructor and assists our officers with their shooting. An area that he particularly excels in is with training individuals on the patrol rifle. I have heard countless times from officers that being comfortable with the patrol rifle can be daunting at times. During these times, Officer Lane focuses his attention to those officers to help them get comfortable and manipulate the weapon accordingly.

For his exceptional police work, dedication to duty, leadership and professionalism Officer Lane is the Haverford Township Police Department’s “Officer of the Year”.
